Petrified Wood Tile Has Arrived at Impact Imports
Boise, Idaho USA - After a four year quest to find someone with the capability to make it, Impact Imports recently announced it received its first shipment of petrified wood tile. Although quantities are very limited, the tiles are available in sizes of 6" x 6" (15cm x 15cm), 12" x 12" (30cm x 30cm) and 6" x random length (15cm x random length). All tiles are 13/16" (2cm) thick.
The owners of Impact Imports travel to Indonesia to find unique items for their customers. And, "Although we have come across several people who sell petrified wood in Indonesia, none of them could make the tile in the sizes we wanted simply because their equipment could not handle the petrified wood material," stated Drew McDaniel, co-President of Impact Imports. "But, in January of 2008, I stumbled across someone who finally said, 'yeah....... I can make that for you!'" After several months of trial and error, equipment failure and materials that did not meet specifications, Impact Imports received its first shipment in December of 2008. "The end result is better than we expected, and our customer base is very excited with the design possibilities for the material." To see the petrified wood tile in person, visit the Impact Imports warehouse located in southeast Boise or contact Drew by email and he will send you pictures. Impact Imports is open every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm and any other day by appointment.
Since 2001, Impact Imports, located in Boise, Idaho, has established itself as a business supplying some of the most unique home and garden products in the entire northwest. On a regular basis, Impact Imports receives new shipments from Indonesia "with unique furniture made from reclaimed teak and reclaimed boat wood," said owner Suzanne McDaniel. "We also hunt for and buy some really great architectural elements, hand carved garden stone, home accessories, natural edged wood slabs for kitchen islands, marble and onyx tile and sinks and bathtubs and much more!" In late 2008, Impact Imports received a traditional Javanese house called a Joglo and installed it as part of the shopping environment of their 10,000 square foot showroom.
